What is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)?
DBT is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals regulate intense emotions. Initially developed for treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), DBT has since proven effective for a variety of emotional challenges. Research consistently shows DBT reduces self-harm and suicidal behaviors while minimizing hospitalizations.
What to Expect from the DBT Program at Mental Care Clinic
Our ongoing DBT program is comprehensive and includes group therapy, individual therapy sessions, and phone coaching. Participants attend weekly 2-hour group sessions where they learn and practice four key skills:
Mindfulness: Learn to stay present and grounded in the moment.
Emotion Regulation: Develop strategies to manage and reduce intense emotions.
Distress Tolerance: Build resilience for handling crisis situations without feeling overwhelmed.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Improve your communication and relationship skills.
Individual therapy sessions will help you integrate these skills into your daily life for maximum benefit.
